Here are M&D’s top ten reasons to love Westport and Weston:

Living the Beach Life

It just might be our claim to fame! Sure, there are a lot of great Tri-State area suburbs but not many can say they lie on the beautiful coastline with their own private beach. Westport and Weston residents soak up the sun all summer long on this gorgeous stretch of the Long Island Sound. And there is no need to interrupt our relaxation to go home for lunch or dinner we just head to the Compo snack bar, Joey’s by the Shore, known for summer favorites like their award-winning lobster roll! But the benefits of living the beach lifestyle don’t stop on Labor Day. You will find kids playing on our larger-than-life playground and frolicking near the waters edge all year long.

Our Award-Winning Schools

One of the best parts about living in the suburbs is not having to participate in the grueling school application process. Westport and Weston public schools are top-notch… consistently! See US News and World Report’s ranking and statistics for 2016:

Our Active Community

Perhaps it’s life on the water that encourages our residents to get outdoors and enjoy the scenery. As you drive through the town you will see people walking, running, biking, paddle-boarding, kayaking, enjoying the beach and playing golf. For hiking, all year round, locals head to Devil’s Den in Weston which offers beautiful trails on over 1700 acres.

Location, Location, Location!

We feel like we’re on vacation every day! We enjoy our morning coffee overlooking the Saugatuck River at Neat, one of our favorite neighborhood cafés. We dine out with sunset views of the Sound at Pearl, one of many waterside restaurants. Sometimes we want to pinch ourselves as we soak in the beauty of our surroundings.

The Arts

Some of the world’s most famous artists, writers and actors have called Westport and Weston home. From Betty Davis and Paul Newman to Robert Redford and F. Scott Fitzgerald, the arts have always played a leading role in Westport and Weston life. Westport is home to The Westport Art Center and The Westport Country Playhouse which offers plays and shows for adults and children. Our fabulous outdoor music venue, Levitt Pavilion, hosts free music concerts throughout the summer, including a kid’s night every Wednesday featuring some of the biggest names in kid’s entertainment.

What About Our Country Club, Daaaahling?

How many towns have a seaside country club for residents? Not many. But Westport does! Longshore Country Club sits on the waters edge and offers residents the use of a beautiful 18-hole golf course, driving range, sailing and water sports, tennis and the use of three pools in the summertime. In the winter, the town opens the outdoor skating rink that is open to the public.

New England At Its Best!

While we may be only 50 miles from NYC, we are still a New England town and we love to celebrate our American holidays! Our Memorial Day parade is one of the best days of the year. We wake up early to line the street, flags in hand, and proudly cheer on our veterans and residents as they march through the center of town. Another favorite day in Westport is our annual fireworks show, sponsored by Westport residents, Melissa & Doug, at Compo Beach. The show is spectacular and everyone from Westport and Weston comes out to celebrate America’s birthday!

A Small Town with City Comforts

From Soul Cycle to Shake Shack, Lester’s to Kidville…Westport is a small town with all the comforts of big-city life.

We Can Shop Til’ We Drop

No need to go elsewhere to get your shopping fix. Stores like Vince, Theory, J.Crew, Joie, Calypso, Intermix and the brand new  Serena & Lily flagship store are just a few of the shops that line Westport’s Main Street. And it’s only getting better – Westport is currently undergoing a major transformation which will bring more retail and restaurants to the center of town.

Our Culinary Cravings are Covered

If you’re looking for locals at a meal time, you’re sure to find them biting into mouth-watering burgers at Craft Butchery, savoring the ramen at Kawa-Ni or gobbling up a greek salad (smothered in the world’s greatest salad dressing!) at Jordan’s Pizza. From brunch to dinner, were covered. Click here to see what other spots we love best!
