Situated along 5.5 miles of the scenic Long Island Sound, the recreational opportunities in Westport are unparalleled. Westport’s Recreation Commission oversees 210 acres of public space, including 3 town beaches, boating, softball, golf, tennis, biking, jogging and strolling in the numerous town parks. Compo Beach is the “gem of Westport” offering residents access to an expansive playground, picnic areas and BBQ facilities. Boaters enjoy the ease of access to several local docks – including many that are situated outside some of the town’s favorite watering holes and are available for “sail up” parking while you enjoy a night on land. Longshore Country Club is town owned and exclusive for a nominal yearly fee to Westport residents, offering a breathtaking 18-hole golf course, 3 swimming pools, tennis paddle ball, sailing, ice skating and more – all with captivating views of the Sound!

The picturesque downtown Main Street has a handful of cafes, luxury boutiques such as Vince, Serena & Lily, Lululemon, Theory, Anthropologie and Vuori. Notable downtown restaurants include Casa Me, featuring artisan Italian cuisine and The Spotted Horse, a jammin’ little hideaway where locals gather for great food and drink.

Proximity to New York City

Westport is located approximately 47 miles from New York City and is serviced by the Metro-North New Haven line to Grand Central Station. There are two train stations in Westport, Greens Farms and Saugatuck. Parking is available for $5 per day at both stations.

Westport boasts an exemplary public school system that includes 5 Elementary Schools (K-5) that feed in to Bedford Middle School (6-8) and Staples High School. Offering 35 Varsity sports and a variety of activities and clubs to cultivate each child’s interests. More than 93 percent of students continue on to 4 year colleges.
